The Script is Finished!

Peter Pan is the first film where we've had a real honest-to-goodness screenplay. For "Safe & Sound," we just typed up the lyrics to the song and wrote out which scenes we wanted to play as each line was sung . . . THIS on the other hand is the real deal.

One page of the screenplay, amounts to about one minute of screen time, so if that holds for our video, then it looks as if it will be nearly forty minutes long. That's six times longer than anything else we've made!

If you're interested, take a minute and read the script. My favorite part is the very beginning (page 2) as the lost boys describe Neverland. I kind of know which boys will be cast as my band of lost brothers, so I wrote it with them in mind.

Since Peter Pan is the first video we've ever written a script for, we realized that we needed actors that could actually memorize and say lines. Actors who could actually act.

In the past, we've never had to worry about who plays what characters because there were never a lot of actors to choose from. But now, the cast pool is a lot bigger. Now there are four or five people who could possibly play each role. This is GREAT! But it makes casting a lot harder. I didn't just want to arbitrarily pick who I thought would be the be the best actors, I wanted them to show me who was best.

And that means . . .  AUDITIONING

Miriam and I put together an audition packet and sent it out to the entire cast pool. The response we got was so positive. I was afraid that auditioning would be intimidating for our younger cast members, but we've gotten more recordings that I thought we ever would, and we're still getting them.      It's fantastic!     Keep up the good work cast. I'm excited to finally watch them all on Saturday. We really are so blessed to have actors like you.
