Today was our BIG day. We were on site from 10:00 until 7:30 at night. LONGEST Kids on Fire Filming day on record. What a crazy awesome day! Take a look at these photos.
We were filming at Foundation Park inside an old glass factory. It was the perfect location and the park staff was so kind to let us film there. We were filming the Arena scene today which is easily our biggest most complicated scene. But also the most fun.
I have loved this scene from gestation--when it was just words on script paper--because it really highlights each of the characters. You get to see each one in his or her element and get to laugh and roll your eyes and gasp as they interact with each other. Today i was blown away by how much each of my actors really understand their character. I didn't have to have psychological conversations with almost any of them (talking about how their character is feeling or what is going on in their heads) because they already knew!
Everyone--cast and crew--were so amazing today. We got a late start which pushed filming into the night a bit, but everyone stayed cheerful and worked hard even though it was late. I have never been so grateful for a cheerful positive cast and crew. I'm really going to miss working with them when this is all over.
