Costume Shopping

Costumes! It's one of the favorite parts of film prep. I always set aside a chunk of our budget for costumes just because it's just too much fun.

For Peter Pan, there are thirty actors. THIRTY! That's more than we've ever had before. And some of those actors play more than one role. That's a lot of costumes.

The pirates (we have eleven of them) are the funnest to shop for because basically anything goes. All you need are lots of belts, vests, scarves, maybe some jewelry, and you have a pirate outfit. Fairies are easy: wreaths, flowers, and lightweight fabrics in tan, pink, white, and ivory. The lost boys are a little more difficult; furs, fringe, vests, and cuffs are what we are going with. Micheal and Wendy both just wear PJs, which you'd think would be the easiest to find. But we still have yet to find an old fashioned nightgown and pajama set.

To add a level of difficulty to the whole ordeal--non of the flying characters (fairies, Peter, Wendy, Tink, or Micheal) can wear green because it will blend in with the green screen. This is a real problem since green is Peter AND Tink's signature color. We're still trying to figure that out.

It's one big adventure and we love it to death. Our cast members each have a copy of the script and we are scheduled to start filming next week. Stay tuned--we might have finally found our pirate ship.
