Wow! It was an amazing shoot. The lighting was perfect, the pollen was floating lazily in the air, and the temperature was just right for our heavy viking costumes. The footage we got was beyond magical, but do you want to see what was happening off camera??
Matthew was my assistant director for this shoot (it's different for every shoot depending who is acting and who is free). He worked with the actors, acting out the scenes so they could watch and rehearsing with them while I got the camera set up.
What was hilarious was that we couldn't communicate over the sound of the waterfall so either the actors and I were playing charades, looking like crazy people, or we had a crew member on each side of the falls with a phone. I would explain what I wanted to the actors, they would give the phone to the crew member and act the scene, then I would call in with my notes. It made everything take longer, but it was funny to see the our vikings on the phone.

Matthew also worked with Mason, showing him how to scurry down the bank and nervously keep tabs on Toothless as he slowly creeps closer. It was fun to watch them work together, and that shot is so much fun to watch now,
The kids ran up the cliff-side to see if we could reach the top of the waterfall. Turns out we can. We filmed some stuff up there, but we have plans to go back and get more when we go back, which will probably be next week. Stay tuned!
