It's the morning of filming! And we are scurrying around trying to hang the Green-screen before Matthew has to leave for work. This scene on the roof is at night in a viking village so we need shade and we need green screen on two sides, because we're adding the village in post.
Because the roof is so tall, the green screen had to be pretty high. We ended up stringing it between two pillars and through the library window where we tied it off to the table in there. Our mom is unendingly tolerant of our escapades :) thanks mom we love you!
I guess it was too much work to climb back down the ladder, through the back door and into the library to tie it off, so Matthew just crawled through the window. I imagine that will show up in a BTS video at one point.
Last step? Cover the roof in straw. I don't actually know if vikings covered their roofs in thatch, but I like the idea of Hiccup coming up through the straw because it's messy gets all over, making the scene less serious.
And we're ready! Let the filming begin!
